Short Biography
Johannes Haybaeck, MD, PhD is Full Professor and Chairman of the Institute of Pathology, Neuropathology and Molecular Pathology at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria. He is board certified Pathologist, Molecular Pathologist, Neuropathologist and trained in Molecular Biology. In 2011 he became Vice Chair and in 2014 he was appointed Chair of the Department of Neuropathology of the Institute of Pathology, Medical University of Graz (MUG), Austria. He was elected for two periods as Founding Coordinator for Cancer Research, Education and Training of the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Graz. From 2016 to 2020 he was Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathology of the University Hospital Magdeburg, Germany and since 2018 he is Chair of the Institute of Pathology, Neuropathology and Molecular Pathology of the Medical University Innsbruck, Austria. Since 2020 he is coordinator of the Central Biobank Innsbruck, Austria. In 2021 he was elected as Chair of the EORTC Pathology Subgroup of the PathoBiologyGroup. He acts as board member of several national and international societies of Pathology and Neuropathology. His main research interests are the understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving carcinogenesis as well as mechanisms underlying inflammatory and degenerative diseases, with a particular focus on translational regulation.
